Dart Scheme

can someone post their dart scheme out of a 2 x2?
is it an A gap play or B gap play depending on the defensive alignment and bubble?
also can you also read the DE w/ this scheme?

Coach,

We always ran the dart as a b-gap play vs an odd or even front... either with the QB or the Superback in the 2x2 set. This is always a tackle pull, and you can let the QB 'read' (the 'dart read') the backside end when the play is going to the superback, thus blocking the backside end with the QB (if the end stays up-field or square shoulders). We never ran bubble with this... we always had the #2 recievers in the double twins stalk blocking. The dart read is a great play to slow down fast flow teams who are defending your zone play well.

The Florida Gators run a great counter which is sort of like the 'dart play', but they pull both the guard and tackle or H-back/wing (kick-out and gut blocks).

if doing this w/ a zone read concept (the DART), how do you insure a seal on the backside ILB if the read teklls the QB to pull?

That's a good question, but you hope the tackle trap and dart action will cause the ILB to read that key and flow to the dart, trying to prevent getting caught in the wash of the down-blocks. I think of it as a chess game, because you run the dart against fast flowing defenses to the zone play, but in all of this you're trying to make the defense think and feel hesitant in their keys and reads. It's that hesitation that will give your athletes that one step they need to break some big plays.
